Speed and simplicity in creating sales proposals are a bliss. But with speed can come less attention to detail and if you present the wrong kind of information to your prospect, you’re guaranteed to struggle to close a sale. So personalizing a sales proposal is a must, but how do you go on about this when we’re all surrounded by multiple tasks on our to-do lists?
In this article, we show how to best create proposals in Salesforce in three steps:
There are two ways to go about this. You can either study the opportunity, historical data of the record and manually build a personalized proposal from scratch. Or, you can use business proposal generation software (such as Documill Dynamo) to automatically generate proposals in Salesforce. In this method, the document is created on a template, pre-designed with the appropriate branding, and automatically populates the relevant data from the prospect’s Opportunity record.
When you use a professional-looking template, you’ll be sure to keep things in the brand and ensure consistency across your customer communication. A document generation App uses a pre-designed template as the basis for your sales proposal, but you will still have the ability to edit and control the data on the proposal. The data comes directly from the relevant customer’s Salesforce record but has the option to be edited once you’ve created the proposal.
Sales proposal creation in Salesforce could not be easier with a document generation App as it will do all the legwork for you. Even the delivery of such proposals. With the automated proposal generator, you can deliver the proposal by email, request an approval or comments and even integrate it with an e-signature to close the process.
Something that is very heavy to do manually, but easy to implement with a document generation App, is ensuring that the terms & conditions (T&Cs) match the offering. You may have for example negotiated different delivery times that impact the T&Cs. When there are a few of these special conditions on the proposal, it can become difficult to manage them in the document. But using snippets or clauses from a library makes all the hassle go away.
In practice, this means having access to ready-created content (say the T&Cs put together by your legal team) in a drag and drop manner so that you can pick and choose the snippets or clauses you need in your sales proposal.
This makes it quick to amend anything that may change from proposal to proposal, rather than just attaching the same T&Cs to all proposals and editing them manually. Speed is just one of the benefits of using a clause library, you will also be sure to have accurate data as the clause library is always pre-created and based on any department’s latest version(s) of any clauses or snippets.
